First Friday Hatboro draws a crowd! The Greater Hatboro Chamber of Commerce is inviting area residents and visitors to a First Friday 'Back to School' night on September 4th. The emphasis is on HEALTH & SAFETY FOR KIDS as they return to another school year.

First Friday Hatboro is a monthly celebration of the arts, hosted by merchants in the borough's business district from 6 to 9 p.m. the first Friday of every month. Gold First Friday flags displayed outside business establishments signal free entertainment or an activity.

Open to both chamber members and non-members, the business-to-business luncheon provides an open forum for networking, plus an opportunity for those attending to introduce themselves and their businesses to the group.

Cost of the luncheon is $15 for chamber members, $17 for non-members. Guests will have several menu options. The Rotary Club of Hatboro will host its annual "Lobster Pot" fundraiser Sept. 12, but at a new location this year, one the club says is centrally located for area guests and which offers convenient parking.

Fun, food and fellowship will be featured at the event, scheduled from 4 to 10 p.m. on the grounds of the . Featured will be a full-course dinner consisting of either a pound-and-a-half lobster with drawn butter or filet mignon, salad bar, locally-grown corn-on-the-cob, homemade rolls from Silvio's Deli & Bakery in Hatboro, dessert, and coffee or tea. The event will be held rain or shine and takeout will be available in the event of inclement weather. Fellowship will begin at 4 p.m.; dinner will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. A cash bar will be available from 4 to 10 p.m. and Disc Jockey Rick Kircher of Horsham will be on hand to make sure there's music for every taste. The evening will include a 50-50 drawing and a raffle for prizes. Outside beverages are not permitted.

The "Lobster Pot" is a major fundraiser for the Rotary Club of Hatboro which has been raising money for community projects and area charities since it was formed 67 years ago. For many years, the event has been held on a private property in Ivyland and has drawn more than 1,000 guests.

"The new venue is easily accessible from Hatboro and its surrounding communities and it offers lots of convenient parking," said Rotary President Dave Clark. "We're looking forward to a great event."

Tickets for the "Lobster Pot," which must be purchased in advance, are $35 and are available from any Hatboro Rotarian or by contacting Linda Lynd at Hatboro Federal Savings, 221 S. York Road, or by calling her at 215-675-4000, extension 21. Tickets also are available at Bob Johnston-State Farm Insurance, 423 N. York Road, Hatboro, 215-675-7299. Tables may be reserved for parties of eight or more. Directions to the VE Club are on the back of the ticket.
