First Friday Hatboro will host a "Celebration of Community" May 1st with entertainment and activities for all ages and a showcase for some nonprofit organizations.

Presented by the Greater Hatboro Chamber of Commerce and hosted by the merchants in downtown Hatboro, First Friday Hatboro is a celebration of the arts held the first Friday of every month from 6 to 9 p.m. Gold and black flags designate the businesses that are hosting an event.

In the center of the business district, in the parking lot of McMackin Tire Service, York Road and W. Moreland Avenue, the HATBORO-HORSHAM HIGH SCHOOL JAZZ BAND will perform from 6 to 7 p.m. From 7 to 9 p. m., the DIXIE DERBYS' SQUARE DANCE CLUB will entertain.

Hatboro Baptist Church, 32 N. York Road, will present the "Heavenly Brew Café," featuring the folk-pop-world music of TRACY HOWE.

Impact Thrift Stores, 14 E. Moreland Ave., will offer KARAOKE, including a wide selection of popular and old favorites.

Edwards Studio, 7 S. York Road, will host the NORA BENKE TRIO and will serve complimentary wine and cheese.

At Village Pretzel, 36 S. York Road, 12INCH GIRL, an alternative rock band of four Bucks County "dads/husbands," will play all original music that includes folk, soft rock, blues, punk and metal - acoustic and electric.

FREE FACE PAINTING will be available from 6-9 p.m. at The Little Corner Kitchen, 101 N. York Road.

At Café LaFontana, 56 S. York Road, Hatboro artist BARBARA SURICK will display her watercolors.

Back by popular demand at This N That Gift Shoppe, 31 S. York Road, are JACK & BRENDA, an acoustic duo performing folk/rock, with a touch of the renaissance.

HATBORO'S ENTERPRISE FIRE CO. will display one of its FIRE TRUCKS and provide information about the company in the parking lot of the Hatboro Baptist Church annex, 50 N. York Road, adjacent to the church. In the church driveway from 7 to 8 p.m., the HATBORO POLICE DEPARTMENT will display a PATROL CAR and will distribute FINGER PRINTING KITS FOR CHILDREN.

Among other community groups which will have display tables throughout town are The Gardeners of Crooked Billet, the Hatboro Lions and the Girl Scouts of Southeastern Pennsylvania and the W.K. Bray Lodge #410 which will display MASONIC TOOLS, ARTIFACTS, BROCHURES and will collect change for U.S. military troops.

The First Friday Hatboro Committee is hoping to raise funds for the program through the sale of oval "HAT" car decals bearing the borough's signature top hat. The $3 stickers will be available at the FFH booth at McMackin Tire Service, Impact Thrift Stores and at A Dog's Life (And A Cat's Too), 109 S. York Road. The stickers will be available after First Friday at Impact, A Dog's Life, and at the Greater Hatboro Chamber of Commerce office in the Red Barn Mall, 120 S. York Road, Hatboro.
