TV's Bill Nye "The Science Guy" Brings Science Alive
He's a scientist, teacher, comedian, author and Emmy Award-winning TV show host. And March 11, Bill Nye - aka "The Science Guy" - will be featured in the Hatboro-Horsham Educational Foundation's Cultural Events series.
Nye will speak at 7:30 p.m. at Hatboro-Horsham High School, 899 Horsham Rd., Horsham. Those purchasing a special combination ticket can meet Nye at a 5 p.m. reception at the Manor House at Commonwealth National Golf Club, 300 Tournament Drive, Horsham. Nye's popularity comes from his ability to present science to all ages in a comedic, interesting and unique fashion," said HHEF Executive Director Laurie Rosard. Science comes to life when Nye examines planetary, physical and life sciences, and explores the environment and ecosystems. His investigation of planetary science, for example, includes a look into things like erosion, garbage, pollution, and rivers and streams. Nye's 60-minute presentation will be followed by a 30-minute question-and-answer session with the audience. Earlier in the day, Nye will meet with sixth-grade students in a question-and-answer session at Keith Valley Middle School in Horsham. Nye's educational TV show originally was broadcast on PBS from 1993 to 1997, and later ran on Nickelodian's "Noggin" and as reruns in syndication. The 5 p.m. reception, which will include hot hors d'oeuvres and finger food, is being offered as part of a $50 combination ticket including preferred seating for Nye's address. The Greater Hatboro Chamber of Commerce will host its monthly networking lunch and business card exchange March 13 from 12 to 1:30 p.m. at Mike’s Bar & Grill, York and Street roads, Warminster. Open to both chamber members and non-members, the business-to-business luncheon provides an open forum for networking, plus an opportunity for those attending to introduce themselves and their businesses to the group.
